Eco-friendly weddings in Corfu

Eco-friendly weddings will be on trend for 2023/24.

It has become evident, especially in the last few years, that we need to do more to preserve and protect the environment. And what better way to start than by making a conscious effort in your choices for your wedding in Corfu?

Arriving at the church/venue

To begin with, you can rethink your transport to the church/venue. Unless you are going in an electric car, then a car is not the best option. Depending on the location of the wedding, why not look at other options, such as a boat or horse and carriage? It would be original, environmentally friendly and also unique.

Wedding invitations

Digital wedding invitations are quickly becoming more and more popular - they are environmentally friendly as well as budget friendly. Keep an eye on our website and Instagram for something coming soon on this. If you prefer the more traditional method and like to be able to give a physical copy of the invitation, then using recycled paper would be best. You can find ones that are hand made and, therefore, more unique and original.

WEDDING DRESSES AND SUITS

More and more companies are opting for more sustainable fashion. They follow eco-friendly practices and make smaller batches of dresses so as to reduce wastage. Some brands that do this are: Galvan London, Rita Colson, Reformation, Nordeen, Wear Your Love.

Many brides and grooms also opt to purchase pre-loved wedding dresses and suits, therefore, reducing the demand in making new ones.

In terms of accessories, instead of buying them, you could create them using flowers.

You can also opt for organic and eco-friendly makeup brands such as Sculpted by Aimee, Izzy and many more, where you can return your empty products and they will refill them for you or you simply keep what you already have and purchase the refill.

Table decorations & Favours

From dried flowers to reusable glass bottles, there are so many options to decorate your guests tables. The place cards could be plantable or made out of recycled materials. Instead of favours, you can make a donation to a cause/charity that’s close to your heart. If you want to have candles on the tables, why not opt for beeswax candles instead? You can also get creative and use gin bottles as center pieces with dried flowers in them (it just means you would have to drink a lot of gin in the lead up to your wedding!). Potted plants could also be used as center pieces.

Wedding without electricity

Try starting your day a little earlier so as to use less electricity for lighting. When you do need more light, perhaps try opting for more candles before you have to switch on the lights.

There are so many options to choose from now if you want an eco-friendly wedding. You just need to get a little more creative and even use what you already have in your house, that would otherwise be thrown away.
